Approaching the throne

The bathroom looms ahead with all its mysterious power....I am a little hesitant as we approach the throne.  I've seen my big brother do this lots of times but still, my little heart is beating fast.  Can I do it?  Alas I am able to get up and sit on the potty seat with Mommy holding on "so I don't fall in".  Then I realize "wait a minute, this is not so bad after all."
No this is not my bathroom.  I wish!  Source: Pinterest  Yes, I have jumped on the bandwagon.

Potty training starts today!

I must admit for some reason I am more nervous about starting this process with my younger son than I was with the first.  You'd think I'd be at ease seeing this isn't my first go around taming the potty beast but none the less I am not looking forward to it.  I am not entirely sure he is ready but with my husband home from work for the summer, it is a good time to give it a try.  He sure was excited to get his "big boy pull-ups" last night.  So we'll see how things go.  If it doesn't work out we'll take a break and try again in a few months.  Wish us luck!

Any potty training tips you'd like to share?

  1. Good luck! And unfortunately, I don't have any tips for ya :(

  2. I have never potty trained boys but what worked for my oldest was just putting her in underwear from the beginning. No pull-ups (except at night.) Within a week, she was completely potty trained.

Good luck! (I also am more scared to potty train my 2nd. What if it's harder? I don't know what I'll do then.)

  3. Good luck, girlie! I was really worried about it too, but Cate caught on pretty quick. It's perfect timing to start b/c it's warm so you can just keep him in underwear and no bottoms.

  4. We are about to start that milestone as well. Not really looking forward to it! Good luck with your adventure! :)

  5. Good luck!!!

My advice? If it doesn't work or there is stress -- wait a bit {like you wrote}. All my kids were different and there is no right or wrong time or right or wrong way to potty train. As my husband always tells me, "they won't be in diapers forever...some day they'll get it." Once I stopped stressing as much they seem to get it. And it was them -- not me setting a timer and reminding them every 60 minutes.

    Good luck!!!!
